Welcome to Ray Braun Fine Art

I can brighten your world. I create art!

“Beauty surrounds us, if you take time to stop, pause and take time to really see with the eye of an artist. Observing the forms and complexity of nature as my inspiration leads me to create something totally new – something that involves the viewer’s imagination and evokes a feeling of wonder and hope.”    — Ray Braun

Explore our wonderful world!

Ray has been drawing or painting since childhood and received the encouragement of others in grade school when he won a state-wide "hire the disabled" poster contest. After high school and two years of liberal arts studies, he pursued visual communications and illustration at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Boise State University and The New School Of Visual Concepts. He operated his own graphic design / illustration business for over 38 years before retiring to focus on fine art.  See his graphic design website at www.raybraundesign.com

He enjoys creating portraits of people, furry friends (pets) and landscapes. But bringing joy to others through his portraits is what he loves best.

Ray says, “I love life and am fascinated by the attraction of the endless array of faces around me. Each person is precious and unique. Portrait painting is about capturing a likeness, a personality and a mood. I love getting to the tipping point in a drawing or painting when the image ‘comes to life’ right before my eyes.”

"Everyone has remarked about how much it looks like me — "a remarkable likeness" is the phrase that a couple of them has used! Pammie was REALLY impressed with your painting of me! She even teared up a little bit. Tears of joy and thoughtfulness! Thanks for sharing your artistic gift with us. I got to say, every time I walk by the picture that you painted of me, it's hanging in my kitchen, it makes me smile. I probably walk by it 12 to 15 times per day. That's a lot of smiles!
